Your Chef
I am in essence, a foodie.  I was taught by three amazing cooks.  My grandfather from Mississippi (who believed that if you took the time to grow it you should take the time to cook it ...right!) my aunt (who married my Italian uncle when he came to this country from Italy,) and my grandmother from England (married to my grandfather from Ireland). I continue to improve my skills through  classes at Newbury Culinary College in Newton and other courses offered throughout New England and restaurants such as the Elephant Walk.  A Touch of Spice was born from my love of incorporating the flavors from a variety of cultures and the joy that comes with cooking for others.

Notes on Nutritution
Along with a love of food and designing it, I also have an interest in holistic nutrition.  Why holistic nutrition? It all comes down to balance you can’t manage healthy lifestyle without balance. Balance of body, mind, and spirit. Nutrition and health are more than the sum of the building blocks of vitamins and minerals. It’s the balance of all.  The definition of which can be as individual as fingerprints.

It’s nearly impossible to find nutrition in prepackaged, high processed foods. Generally, prepackaged foods are so heavily manufactured that all or most of the nutritional value has been removed in the processing with some vitamins and minerals being added back in but certainly not the foods original content. Getting the best nutritional bang for the buck means eating whole foods: eating the four outer isles or walls of the grocery store where the fruits, vegetables, whole grains, dairy, tofu and meats and poultry are supplied. It’s not about never again eating what you love, it’s about remaking what you love. Learn to remake what you love and you’ll lose the weight.  Learn to bring these remakes into balance with your mind and spirit and you’ll keep it off for life.
